What Students Will Learn
Garment Sewing is designed for students who are ready to move beyond project sewing and begin creating clothing they can confidently wear.
Throughout the semester, students will learn essential garment construction skills, including:
- Taking accurate body measurements
- Choosing the correct pattern size
- Reading and understanding commercial sewing patterns
- Laying out and cutting knit fabric
- Sewing with stretch (knit) fabrics
- Constructing knit garments with a professional finish
- Building confidence and independence in garment sewing
Students work at their own pace while creating wearable garments they'll be proud to show off. Students will also keep their sewing patterns so they can recreate these projects at home.
Planned Projects
Projects are subject to change based on class progress and material availability.
-
Knit T-shirt (optional pocket)
- Knit shorts
Bonus Project (time permitting):
- Third knit project (to be determined)
Every child learns at a different pace, so while we strive to complete every planned project, we cannot guarantee every student will finish all projects.
